The importance of Everton's goalkeeper coach - as told by some of the world's best

wwwpic5678 Hugo Oliveira spends his week at Finch Farm working with one of world's best goalkeepers, a World Cup finalist and a teenager with serious potential. But for Everton's goalkeeping coach, being in such company is nothing new. Today, he coaches Jordan Pickford, Maarten Stekelenburg and Joao Virginia and when occupying the same role at Benfica between 2011-16, Oliveira worked with three of the finest stoppers of recent times.

Jan Oblak
Oblak is said to have a release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract worth €100m. wwwpic5678 He is widely considered one of the world's best goalkeepers. After playing in his homeland of Slovenia, Oblak's developmental years were spent in Portugal, with Benfica and under the watchful eye of Oliveira. Oblak was sent out on loan four times before earning his first-team breakthrough at the Estadio da Luz in 2013 where he finished the season being officially recognised as the best goalkeeper in Portugal after keeping 19 clean sheets.

Ederson Moraes
He is known to fans of the Premier League, simply, as Ederson. The £35m goalkeeper signed by Pep Guardiola for Manchester City who was, at one stage, the world's most expensive in his position. In his first season in England he won a Premier League and League Cup double. He and Oliveria had been like passing ships at Benfica initially, the teenage goalkeeper leaving for Ribeirao as the coach joined, before they began working together in 2015 when Ederson rejoined the Portuguese giants.

Julio Cesar
The Brazilian had been one of the world's best goalkeepers but his career stuttered after he left Inter Milan, having won numerous league titles and the Champions League. wwwpic5678 Cesar experienced two difficult years at Queens Park Rangers, including being loaned out to Toronto FC in the MLS, before (having had his contract terminated) he joined Benfica. In Portugal, and working alongside Oliveira, he revived his career, finishing the 2014-15 season with impressive stats, including going over 800 minutes without conceding a goal and collecting 16 clean sheets. Like Oblak, Cesar was officially recognised as Portugal's best goalkeeper that season.
